7 BUCKINGHAM COURT - $419,900

The Essentials

A three-bedroom east-end side-split with fireplace, lovely hardwood, and an in-ground saltwater pool.

The Bigger Picture

We’re not in the east end of the city every day. But when we do go, it’s the pace of change that surprises us the most. The grocery stores and liquor store, the restaurants and Starbucks. I don’t think anyone really saw those coming in such a rush. And when the third crossing opens at the foot of Gore Road, this end of the city will feel entirely different, we think, and we mean that in a wholly positive way.

If we lived at 7 Buckingham Court, east of highway 15 in the older, leafier, part of the subdivision, it’s in the family room where we’d spend a lot of the upcoming holidays. A real tree in the corner all lit up, is what I see, and the fireplace working its magic. Snow would be piling up at the glass doors and a horde of kids out there falling back as angels.

Maybe we’d walk down the moonlit, ice-slicked cul-de-sac and into the park after dinner. Stamp about there for a bit, our feet icing up. We’d talk maybe about how, six months from now it’ll be a completely different weather and we’ll be gathered around the grand saltwater pool instead. And won’t that be a delight. We’d laugh at the contrast between now and then. And then someone would mention whisky and we’d be back inside a lot quicker than it took us to get out.

It’s a house for all seasons, is what I’m getting at. A three-bedroom side-split with a lovely fresh hardwood laid on the main levels and a good oak galley kitchen. There’s inside entry from the garage (thank god) and a laundry room too. The basement is finished as well, so there’s room to get away with a book or some headphones when the endless caroling and the constant offers of more turkey, more champagne, begin to weigh you down.

There’s a virtual tour, of course, and the MLS® listing is here. But there are no plans for an open house here, not with the holidays upon us. If you don’t have an agent and would like to see the house (and you should, it’ a good one), just give us a call. Any offers will be reviewed at 4.30 pm on Wednesday December 18.
